Vanessa Thomas

Vanessa is the co-founder and Bassist come Vocalist for Soul Destination, Kloane, and Electric Chameleon.

Vanessa began her musical journey in December 1997, diving into the world of bass guitar and vocals.

Graduating from London’s Institute of Contemporary Music and Performance in 2008 with a Higher Level Diploma in Popular Music Performance – Bass Guitar, she honed her skills and passion for music.

Throughout her career, Vanessa has showcased her talents in a diverse array of musical ventures, ranging from soulful Soul & Motown function bands to lively pub rock, from the heartfelt melodies of Modern Country to the soul-stirring tunes of Blues bands. Additionally, she has lent her skills to various musical productions at Louth Riverhead Theatre.

Equipped with her trusty Fender Aerodyne Bass and powered by a Markbass amp for backline, Vanessa continues to captivate audiences with her rhythmic grooves and harmonious melodies.

Beyond the stage, Vanessa is a devoted Apple Mac enthusiast and enjoys creating engaging social media content. She is a proud mother of two; her eldest son is now part of the band Kloane and serves as a part-time sound engineer for Soul Destination.

At home, she cherishes the company of her two dogs, a chocolate Labrador and a Yorkshire Terrier cross.

Vanessa is married to Martin, the lead vocalist of the bands Soul Destination, Kloane, and Electric Chameleon. They share a unique love story, having met when Martin auditioned to be the singer for a band Vanessa was in—a tale he humorously recounts as “meeting on the internet,” which is kind of true.

Interesting Fact about Vanessa:

Despite being left-handed, Vanessa was advised to start with a right-handed bass guitar for her very first purchase. As she was learning to play from scratch, and right-handed basses were more widely available, it turned out to be a decision that shaped her unique style and approach to playing!
